| At this time it appears that two of his sons, Furniss and possibly Royal, were living with him in Galveston. He was a storekeeper, and a regular supplier to the Jordan Plantation. Some are mentioned in this letter. What is also apparent in this letter is that warm feelings did exist between Robert Martin and the McNeill's, despite Levi Jordan's Will which stipulated that he was not allowed to come on the plantation. | |||

Text of Letter: Feb. 6, 1878 Dear Arch: Thomas arrived this morning, will leve [sic] tomorrow. Will ___ ___ & ___ by her. Also some feed for their subsistence. Furnif [Furniss] has been sick, fever, all day Monday and Monday night. ___ it yesterday and giving him freely. Wants to see Brothers, Mama and uncle. No news, busnefs [business] good. Will send package of things by first Bernard Boat. Willie ought to be here at school, give love to Grandma, Mama, to my dear children, will see them this summer if I live. Devotedly, |
